Access Statement for Penglyn – January 2011
Our self catering holiday home is situated in Amroth,South Wales. We
have tried to provide as much information as possible in this statement,

Pre-Arrival
•We have a website – www.penglyn.co.uk
where pictures of Penglyn and the surrounding area can be viewed.

•The nearest bus stop in Amroth is 50 metres from the entrance to Penglyn.
•The nearest main train station is 4.5 miles away - Saundersfoot Railway Station,Saundersfoot,Pembrokeshire,SA69 9BG.There are accessible taxis at the station.
Alternatively a local train station is located at Kilgetty.
•From Tenby proceed towards Kilgetty and at the roundabout head towards St Clears. Take the first right turning signposted Stepaside and proceed up the hill past the Stepaside Inn. Take the next right signposted Amroth. As you drive down the hill, Penglyn is on the left hand side.
•Internet shopping can be delivered on arrival via Tesco.
•We can provide information in large print upon request.
•Penglyn is a pet friendly accommodation.
•The nearest RADAR(Royal Association for Disability Rights)toilet is at the bottom of the hill on the Pembrokeshire coastal path, 200 metres from Penglyn, further RADAR toilets are available in Wisemans Bridge and Saundersfoot
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
•There is a car park at the front and side of Penglyn to accommodate
6-8 cars.
•Car parking is tarmac, smooth and has a slight slope
•There is no street parking
•The entrance at the front has 2 steps – 14cm high, 83cm wide.
•The door is 80cm wide.
•Parking is 1-10 metres away from the entrance
•The entrance is reached from the driveway/car parking
•The entrance is at the front of the house
Main Entrance & Reception
Porch area:
•The entrance at the front has 1 step – 14cm high, 83cm wide. (Door
hinged on the left).
•The door is 80cm wide and the Yale key hole lock is 130cm high.
•Inside the front entrance is a 2nd door, 160 cm in front of the porch
door.
This door is 83cm wide and the key hole lock is 100cm high. (Door hinged
on the left). This leads to the main lobby area.
•The main lobby goes to the Lounge (1 step – 20cm).There is an emergency
telephone fitted in the lounge. (Incoming calls only)
•The staircase is 1 flight to the first floor with a landing area. The
stairs are 19cm high, 23cm deep and 65cm wide. They have hand rails
on the right hand side. (94cm high)
•Light switches are 130cm high.
Downstairs rooms
•Open plan from the Lobby to main area, a patio door allows access
to the lounge area (1 step 34cm high)
•Downstairs small toilet situated off the Lobby (Door 65cm wide, seat
is 43cm high , basin is 86cm high and the room is 170cm long by 100cm
wide)
•Battery Fire alarm fitted (1 downstairs in lobby, 2 upstairs at either
end of the corridor)
•Flat carpeted throughout with short pile carpet
Dining Room & Lounge
•Door width 80cm with handles at 96cm high.
•The dining room is open plan with the lounge and sitting room.
•Square Table (moveable side to side) – legs on each corner, 70cm floor
to lowest point of table (underspace), 2 metres long, 1.0 metres wide
and 80cm high
•Free space between table and walls is at least 90cm all around.
•Chairs (moveable) – 4 dining chairs with padded seat and no arms plus
2 with arms. There is a further seating in the lounge with a 2 and 3
seater sofa plus 2 high back arm chairs
•There is free space of 1.25 by 1 metre clear of doors and furniture
•Flooring is short pile carpet throughout
•Furniture is moveable and all is non feather.
•Teletext and freeview TV provided with remote control (also available
are DVD, stereo with CD, radio and tape plus broadband connection)
Self-Catering Kitchen
•Kitchen open plan, door from lounge 80cm
•Worktop height 92cm.
•Oven door is drop down, height of lowest shelf 400cm, can be accessed
from the side
•Sink is 92cm high with cupboards underneath
•Hob is 92cm high and halogen
•Flooring is laminate wood effect
•At least 90cm free space between all furniture and worktops
•Evenly lit kitchen with spotlights above work surfaces where required.
Light switches are 135cm high
•Good contrast between floor, cupboards and other surfaces
•Fridge available, highest shelf in fridge 87cm. Large Fridge /Freezer
also available kept in the conservatory.
Conservatory
•There is a 6cm threshold from the kitchen to Conservatory.
•There is a 20cm step from the Conservatory to the Patio area
•The conservatory has plastic seating chairs which are easily stacked
or moved.
•The only heavy item in the conservatory is the fridge freezer
Laundry
•There is separate laundry room outside where there is a standard size
washer dryer, which is front loading, a tumble dryer and wash sink.
•The door to the laundry room is 90cm wide.
Grounds and Gardens
•Extensive gardens – all sloped, some very steep. The patio area outside
the conservatory is level paving slab. The gardens are enclosed by a
wooden rail fence (meshed) to keep pets within the garden area. Many
areas have steps to different levels; care should be taken as some are
very steep.
Upstairs Rooms:
•The doors are 80cm wide inwards opening to each room
•The upstairs bathroom is down 2 steps (18cm and 14cm) and has a over
bath shower.(Bath height 34cm, 58cm wide and 150cm long)
•The corridor to each room is 95cm wide
Master Bedroom
•Doors width 72cm
•Double bed provided – 200cm (6ft 6”).
•Bed height 63cm floor to top of mattress.
•Non Feather duvets and pillows provided.
•Sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases are cotton
•Wash hand sink in 2 of the 3 bedrooms at 84cm high
•Largest transfer space available to right of bed is 1.2 metres, Left
70cm
•Bed is movable if more space is required to one side
•Largest free space clear of doors and furniture is 120cm by 190cm
Bathroom & WC
•Door width 72cm
•Bath with flexible shower over
•Bath height is 34 cm. Integral bath rails available on both sides
•Free space in bathroom (free of doors and furniture) is 2.3 by 1.7
metres. The ceiling is sloping towards the 1.7 width
•Toilet seat height 39cm
•Space to right of toilet is 30cm, no available space to the left
•Flooring is lino
•Good colour contrast between floor, walls and furniture
•Door lock is by latch pin
•Space under washbasin has pedestal (no pipes or vanity unit)
•Shower switch is by pullcord 140cm high
•Mirror is 135cm high
•All taps are push on/off
Twin Bedroom
•Door 80 cm wide
•2 single beds 200cm x 63cm high by 140cm wide
•Wash basin is 84cm high
•Light switch is 140cm high
Additional Guest Room
•20cm step up to room
•Door 70cm reducing to 60cm due to door stop
•Light switch pull cord 120cm high
•Double bed provided – 200cm (6ft 6”).
•Bed height 63cm floor to top of mattress
•Narrowest part 54cm, 100cm clear space to right of bed

• Not Available – Penglyn is totally private.
Shop
• nearest shop is 200 metres at the bottom of the hill and stocks a
full range of goods from food to papers and gifts
Leisure Facilities
•Nearest Leisure facilities are Saundersfoot or Tenby
Outdoor Facilities
• The Beach is 200 metres away and can be accessed by slipways at the
end and middle of the beach area
Pets - Dog friendly beaches - restricted areas during the summer (Click

• Amroth has 3 public houses, 6 eating establishments, check for openings
outside of April-September
